The ZY2600/6.5/16D two‑leg shield hydraulic support for thin coal seams was developed for the geological conditions of thin coal seams below one meter containing pyrite hard nodules in Yankuang Group. Innovative developments include large extension‑ratio hydraulic props (dual extension plus mechanical extension sections), base front lifting technology with automatic base lifting device, articulated connecting‑rod base adjustment structure, and hydraulic group‑based quantitative advancing technology. This research achievement has solved the worldwide problem of mechanized mining of thin coal seams below one meter with pyrite hard nodules, set a record of an annual output of 620,000 tons in a single thin coal seam working face, and obtained six patents. It won the First Prize of the China Coal Industry Science and Technology Award.
